Richard Schickel is a poo-poo head.
The winner of this week's Doody-Head Award goes to Richard Schickel. At this year’s Writing Today conference he was quoted as saying: "No one should waste their time blogging, since it is an unpaid activity and no one other than your mother and maybe a cousin or two will be reading it." This from the guy who did an hour-long commercial for Spielberg's War of the Worlds disguised as a documentary about science fiction movies for Turner Classic Movies. What a self-important moron.
Well, I gotta say, I get about a thousand readers a day hitting my blog but if it only was my mother and a cousin or two I'd still blog, because it's very therapeutic and keeps me in the habit of writing something daily. Although if my mother and my cousins knew I had a blog, I'm not sure I'd post what I post ("Bad Tux! Go wash your mouth out!").
