A pretty Girl in a Cape is like a Melody

It's been said that Ginger Rogers did everything Fred Astaire did, only backwards and in high heels. Another underrated female counterpart to a male lead was Supergirl.

When I was a kid I knew that supergirl changed costumes a couple of times, but I had no idea the sheer number of outfits that DC Comics made that Supergirl wear! I found this documentation of her extensive wardrobe via Scans Daily. Just click on the pictures to see the larger versions.

A long time ago I posted about a blogstorm of Supergirl pix. If you have never seen it, you may want to go check it out!

UPDATE: Evil Spock has submitted a link that documents the numerous costume changes of the Wasp!

Evil Spock believes Janet Van Dyne (aka The Wasp) has the record for number of costumes.

What's the difference between a blogstorm and a blog-a-thon?

Evil Spock, I think you're right about the Wasp's costume count.

I always did kind of like Supergirl, a couple of those costumes are pretty cool, too.

And say what you will about the Supergirl movie, but Helen Slater filled out that costume in a mighty fine way.

It almost made the movie viewable.

Evil Spock: Ack! What a great link! I think my favorite was Cave Girl Swimsuit in Fishnet Stocking Wasp, although this shot appealed to my more prurient interests. Oh, what a Wonderfully Wanton and Wicked Wasp Woman! How you vex us so. Iron Wasp is going to give me nightmares!

Every time I go all geeky, you always manage to to totally out-geek-ify me! Damn you, Evil Spock!

J.D.: You need an umbrella for a blogstorm, and you wear your jammies for a blog-a-thon!

Jon the Intergalactic Gladiator: I really liked Supergirl's pouffy hot pants period. I was about 11 or 12 at time, I think.

Distributorcap: How discerning of you!

MWB: I loved the Supergirl movie! Well, no it was awful. But Helen Slater was great in the role! The movie was indeed dreaful. It is the kind of movie that you switch channels to go back to when your main program has a commericial.

Angry Ballerina: Hmm... I see a red cape in your future. Can we talk you into some red Supergirl go-go boots to go with it?

The mind boggling thing about the Supergirl movie is that you have Faye Dunaway, Peter O'Toole and Peter Cook - and you still manage to make a sticker with such a good cast!

That would be "stinker" not "sticker"... I am Moron Boy fear me!

Evil Spock is a loser.

MWB: Yes, even the greatest actor cannot save a sinking script. You caqn't get much better than Peter O'Toole and Peter Cook, and Faye Dunaway is no slouch either. I am not sure that Dunaway was cut out for parody, though.

Evil Spock: Jeepers! No you're not. Cheer up, little buckeroo!
