It's true that he was nominated, but he was nominated only by one member of the committee. To win he would have to be voted in by a majority of the committee. I agree with your sentiment, though. This is clearly a sign of the apocalypse:
"When he opened the sixth seal, I looked, and behold, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth, the full moon became like blood, and a big fat, lying, Oxcontin addicted blowhard had been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize..."
Still it's crazy to think that there are ditto-heads on the committee.
