Homeland Security Funnies!

I can't remember where I got this. I just cleaned it up a little.

My favorite discussion is a discussion with a conservative about the death penalty. When you demonstrate with statistics that it has zero deterrent value (showing, for instance, that there's actually higher murder rates in states that frequently use the death penalty), they respond that it would work "if they just executed people right away, without all those appeals and shit..." And of course it turns out that just in Illinois, we had dozens of people mistakenly on death row, even after trials and the long and tortorous appeals process.

Sleestak: Boy, you sure know your stuff! I found this in seconds with your keywords. I've even posted the comic that you have quoted before, "We should have done our thinking and praying before this happened."

The original comic looked like this. I just straightened it, and greyed-out the text that had been added so that it did not stand out stark black. I wish I knew what that font they used for the added text was!

Tengrain: My initial reaction to your dream was, "Australia!" That is an interesting dream. It sounds like it would make a good story or comic book!

Man is a pestilence.

Dr. Zira, I must caution you. Experimental brain surgery on these creatures is one thing, and I'm all in favor of it. But to suggest that we can learn anything about the simian nature from a study of man is sheer nonsense. Man is a menace, a walking pestilence. He eats up his food supply in the forest, then migrates to our green belts and ravages our crops. The sooner he is exterminated, the better. It's a question of simian survival.
