Michele Bachmann: Wingnut or Wingnuttiest?

This is one of the latest rants from Minnesota Representative Michele Bachmann:

That's why with everything within us we need to literally start banging garbage lids together to create enough noise so that our neighbors and our co-workers realize where the time clock is at this point because the second hand is literally banging up against 11:59 on the clock of freedom when it comes to health care... we cannot rest; we can’t take our marbles and go home.

Bachmann made an appearance on Face The Nation recently [ video ] (Bachmann comes in at about 08:10) and offered her own unique analysis about the health care bill and recent economic legislation:

"Today the federal government has taken either direct ownership or control of banks, the largest insurance company in the United States, A.I.G., Freddie [Mac] and Fannie [Mae]," Bachmann said, offering no sources for her statistics. "The federal government owns over 50 percent of all home mortgages and now the direct student loan industry."
[...]
I went to the House [of Representatives] floor the first thing on Monday and put a bill in that would repeal Obamacare," said Bachmann. "So did my colleagues, Steve King of Iowa. Also Parker Griffith of Alabama."

She added, "The New England Journal of Medicine released a survey the week that President Obama signed Obamacare stating that over 30 percent of American physicians would leave the profession if the government took over health care. That's very serious going forward." (The New England Journal of Medicine has denied it conducted or published the survey cited by Bachmann.)

Marbles, indeed.

30 percent of physicians would leave? Really? And do what? Default on their student loans? Become Revolving door Lobbyests? I mean not to put too fine a point on it, but has Bachman had to doctor shop lately? Some of the bullshit burger flippers that pass for doctors these days would scare professional butchers. I mean I could just find a street corner and hire me a dealer.

Our medical profession has become so money bound, that its damn difficult to find someone in your price range, much less your region who actually practices the art of healing.

30 percent of quacks more like. And since we all know that Bachman is famous for pulling numbers out of her ass, I must ask, which one of her rice crispies gave her that statistic?

Her congressional district must be a magical place full of some of our most brilliant citizens.

I doubt the quote about 30% of docs leaving the business. Where would they go to practice, Canada, UK? Sounds like obvious smoke blowing by the anti reformers.

C'mon, docs would never leave because where else but here can they practice their love with women?

I'm wondering just how many more spots to the right the Overton window has left to move.

Seeing Eye Chick: I blame the entire medical profession! And the census, of course. (It's French, you know.) ;o)

Some Guy: I sense a hint of sarcasm in your tone. ;o)

Jang-chub Ozer: The New England Journal of Medicine has denied that it conducted or published the survey cited by Bachmann, of course. ;o)

Randal Graves: I think you mean the evil Obie-Gee-Why-Ens. ;o)

Steve: Yay! I think that you're right! ;o)

Susan: I think she has already found the edge. ;o)

Terry: I think that Bachmann needs a lobotomy, but I'm partial that way. ;o)
