Beach Party Tonight!
Surfs up! Here are over 50 different links to those madcap screwball beach movies of yesteryear! There are filled with singing, and dancing, and surfing, and most importantly, the girls are all wearing bikinis!
I wasn't even born when they started making thse movies, but they used to rerun them endlessly on the 3:30 Movie that came on channel 7 every weekday afternoon where I lived when I was a kid. I loved Gidget and Eric Von Zipper and the Rat Pack and all of the songs and the girls in bikinis! I always thought that Frankie Avalon was kind of dick, though. And I thought that Annette was just a stuck up princess. I've found that as I've grown older I don't dislike them so much anymore.
The best clip of all is "how to stuff a wild bikini" by the Indie group Tullycraft. They found the greatest bikini clips of all! For some extra deliciousness, the clip with Nancy Sinatra singing "Geronimo" from the film "The Ghost in the Invisible Bikini" is quite nice.
Probably the most unintentionally funny song is Annette Funicello singing about her surrogate sex toy in the musical number, "Stuffed Animal". "a stuffed animal is more than a toy... a stuffed animal never says no..." The on again/off again plot twist in the clip for the song "The Perfect Boy" is symptomatic of Annette's constant problems with Frankie.
Frankie Avalon was at his best as the Potato Bug (a Beatles send-up) singing "Gimme Your Love" and "How About That". Watch the entire 5'6" of macho stud Frankie Avalon singing "Fireball 500" "Lovin' and livin' like a lovin' man, livin' and lovin' as fast as I can, That's why they call me a travelin' man!..." It's almost painful to watch. Later in the film he tells Annette what he wants on his hot dog.
The infamous Eric Von Zipper (Harvey Lembeck) singing "I Am My Ideal" "He's got rat appeal!" "Surfin' bird" is a great Peewee Herman clip from the underrated film "Back to the Beach".
UPDATE: You can download an MP3 of "Wild Bikini" by Tullycraft at this link. Also, the Saltine Crack Whores did a very pleasant cover of the song that can be found at either this link or this one.

Chicago's WLS The 3:30 Afternoon movie?
Annette is entirely too clothed in those clips.
It undermines the important artistic statement of the movies.
Joe Sez: Nope. This was KGO out of San Francisco. I think the station used to have different call letters then.
MWB: LOL! Well put. There is some debate about her style of clothing in these beach party films being because of previous contractual obligations to Disney. Luckily there are plenty of other bikini-clad actresses in most of these clips to keep your interest!
