What Was On TV Last Night

I was switching channels and I got sucked into the film "True Grit". I usually hate westerns, but I had to watch this one. The villian's name was Cheney.

Wow! It's been a long time since I've seen that one.

I prefer the Ford-Wayne flicks, though: The Searchers, Fort Apache, She Wore a Yellow Ribbon... I didn't like westerns as much when I was a young kid, but as I grew older, they really grew on me. Don't forget Leone!

I'm kind of in the same boat as batocchio. My dad watched westerns all the time, I rarely did growing up, but I'll watch a good one now, and this is a good one. But hey, who's more of a Rugged Individualist than Marion!

Well, nobody's perfect.

Even "meatball westerns" as my kid's call the Leone flicks?

I wish the "True? Shit!" we're watching, staring the villanious Cheney, was a movie.

But then, I doubt we'd be watching an "True? Shit!".

So there's that.

"staring" WTF! That's just too damn creepy to picture.

Let's try "starring".

Hmmm. Ick. That's creepy too.

Well, I guess that settles it. If it is Cheney, it creeps.

That one's hard to ignore when I stumble across it. Kind of gives me the itch to saddle up and ride to Dardanelle in Yell County.

Batocchio: I don't like most westerns. they are just too formulaic, and they are usually slow paced. Maybe I will learn to appreciate them eventually.

Randal Graves: It's still amazing that a Rugged Individualist named Marion could get away with his "cowboy walk" - with a straight face! "Brokeback Mountain" was really all about the Duke.

Dean Wormer: Spagetti westerns were ok, although you did see the occasional airplane in the background. "Once Upon a Time in the West" was pretty incredible.

kirby: Ack! What an image! You should do a post about that!

Spirula: Ha! If only it was a movie... Shoot.

konagod: Kim Darby was extra cute and spunky. I think that helped the film considerably. John Wayne was in top form, of course.
