Siskel & Ebert Outtakes
No time for blogging today! I am busy negotiating with some delegates from the planet Venus. (And they say I have no foreign policy experience. Ha!) In the meantime, you can watch this swell video that displays the warmth and comradery of Siskel & Ebert during outtakes from their show in the '80s that I found on Jang-chub Ozer's awesome blog, Wondertrash. (watch 'til the end for an important religious message from these two wacky film critics!)

The money quote: "I already shot my wad on the Protestants."
Deadpan brilliance.
Ebert took HUGE pleasure in his unscripted interactions with Siskel.
Their exchanges across the O'Neill's barroom or their passing shots at the Billy Goat are still benchmarks of Chicago's four daily newspaper era.
They covered quite a bit of territory in that - thanks for the mention.
That was a thing of beauty, Dr.! Thanks for a big laugh! I sat next to Siskel at a Bull's game once at the old Chicago Stadium. I figured hey was sick of people saying, "Hey, you're Gene Siskel, " so I left him alone. He didn't seem that drunk.
Yes, I'm going to blow up the Earth with my Illudium Q-36 Explosive Space Modulator, it obstructs my view of Venus.
Dr Z, I hope you have 31,536,000 moments of happiness this year!
Rehctaw: I've never heard about their exchanges across the O'Neill's barroom or their passing shots at the Billy Goat. That sounds interesting! ;o)
Sunshine: Ebert is certainly more than half the fun, that's for sure! ;o)
Jang-chub Ozer: The did indeed cover a lot of territory in that video. Thanks for finding such a great link! ;o)
Some Guy: It's a good thing you weren't sitting next to Ebert! ;o)
Teresita: Where's the kaboom? There was supposed to be an earth-shattering kaboom! ;o)
JustJoeP: Thanks, JustJoeP! I hope that you have 31,536,000 moments of happiness this year as well! :o)
