Enough Election Coverage, Time to Get Back to Work!

"By a vote of 214-210, the House has just passed the final agreement on the fiscal year 2009 budget (S. Con. Res. 70). For the first time since the year 2000, the Congress will pass a budget during an election year. This budget is fiscally responsible, reduces the deficit, and returns the nation's budget to balance in 2012 and is fully compliant with pay-as-you-go budget rules. This fiscally responsible budget meets our obligation to defend our country, invest in our energy security, cut taxes for the middle class, care for our veterans, strengthen America's economy and create jobs."

Speaker Pelosi: "The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities says, 'Some claim that the budget plan of the conferees... would constitute 'the largest tax increase in history.' This claim is inaccurate.' This year's budget plan does not include a tax increase. It actually calls for a $340 billion tax reduction in revenues. The problem that our friends on the Republican side have is that these tax cuts are for the middle class, not just for their friends in the upper 1% bracket."

Forgive me for taking leave of my normally calm (if occasionally vitriolic) decorum but...

Republican Party, in your face! Ha!

And special thanks to Pelosi and the other Congressional Democrats for coming out of the foxholes and getting things done -- finally. It's nice to see tangible proof that the only thing "conservative" about Republicans is their application of courage and brainpower.

chaos4700: Ha! "The only thing "conservative" about Republicans is their application of courage and brainpower." Good one!

dguzman: Yep! They are choking on their own rhotoric on this one!

Dean Wormer: Indeed! Pelosi is like Bruce Lee, only cooler. ;o)

Bradda: That is just something that Pelosi said during the last election when reporters were pestering her. Don't get me started on the subject, I'll never shut up. [ 1, 2, 3 ]

Utah Savage: Don't get me started on the subject, I'll never shut up. [ 1, 2, 3 ]

Distributorcap: It depends on the Senate, I believe.

Swinebread: Speaker Pelosi is indeed Wonder Woman! Except when she is Super Girl. ;o)
