Mmm, Mmm, Mmm

The conservative media has been in an uproar recently over video footage of children at a New Jersey elementary school singing the praises of President Barack Obama. The RNC has even used this faux news event in their recent fund raising appeals.

I have been following this story with some interest. I actually have to agree, I don't think that we should be teaching partisan politics in school. On the other hand, this story is so minor in it's original intent, so ripe with political hypocrisy as presented and so overblown by the media that I am flabbergasted.

The most important point to be remembered about political propaganda is that if one is going to blame it on a political party or organization it must come from the top down. Obama can't indoctrinating school kids unless he or his party directed it.

Jon Stewart of the Daily Show said it most succinctly: "It was one school in New Jersey, Obama had nothing to do with it, it occurred during Black History Month, just after the inauguration, it was part of a program saluting other president's as well, and parent's were notified of the contents of the lyrics beforehand - and there were no complaint before the show, during the show or after the show."

Also, I cannot see how people can really be strongly against the lyrics of the songs - unless they are against fairness, equal work for equal pay, everyone getting an equal chance and treating all people as equals, or having a black president. If a person is against these things, then they are probably in the wrong country.

These are the lyrics to the song sung by the New Jersey elementary school kids:

These lyrics are certainly more offensive (for obvious reasons), and the message was conveyed from the top down, thus fulfilling the definition of 'propaganda' or 'indoctrination':

At the annual White House Easter Egg Roll, children from the stricken Gulf Coast region serenaded First Lady Laura Bush with a song praising the beleaguered Federal Emergency Management Agency.

To the tune of Hey Look Me Over, about 100 young children from Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama sang:

Our country’s stood beside us
People have sent us aid.
Katrina could not stop us, our hopes will never fade.
Congress, Bush and FEMA
People across our land
Together have come to rebuild us and we join them hand-in-hand!

Wingnuts Roasting on an Open Fire

Andy Williams
The 81-year-old American pop singer and unabashed Christmas sweater enthusiast Andy Williams recently said in a interview that President Obama is "following Marxist theory" and wants to turn the US into a "socialist country".

"Don't like him at all," he said, "I think he wants to create a socialist country. The people he associates with are very Left-wing. One is registered as a Communist.

"Obama is following Marxist theory. He's taken over the banks and the car industry. He wants the country to fail." Telegraph, Oliver Willis.

although a lifelong Republican, Williams was a friend of the Kennedy family and campaigned for Robert F. Kennedy in 1968. He was present at the Los Angeles rally where Robert F Kennedy was assassinated.

As a teenager Andy Williams dubbed some of the high notes in the song "How Little We Know" sung by Lauren Bacall in the film To Have and Have Not.

          Nothng To Lose (The Party)
Love Is Blue
It's hard to say goodbye
Meditation
We've Only Just Begun
A Flea in Her Ear
Hurry on Down
Both Sides Now
God Only Knows
Close To You
I probably wouldn't even remember who the heck Andy Williams is today, except for the fact that he was once married to the delightful Claudine Longet [ 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 ], who shot her boyfriend while still married to Andy Williams. I am beginning to think that it is entirely possible that she shot the wrong guy...

Slutty Is the New Self Righteous!

As we learned recently from Former Miss California Carrie Prejean's very special Address to the Value Voter Summit, Ms. Prejean is not like the rest of us. God has chosen her for a special purpose. She was chosen by God to be "the one to stick up for him, and for the truth"! And God knew that she was the one that was strong enough to get through "all of the junk that she had to get through."

Ms. Prejean no longer aspires to the paltry and tarnished crown of Miss California or Miss Universe. No! God has a crown for her that is far more super duper! "Even though I didn't win the crown that night," said Prejean, tearing up, "I know the Lord has so much of a bigger crown in heaven for me." So I guess she will get to wear a crown in heaven, just like Jesus!

Ms. Prejean's address to the Value Voter Summit was not the first suggestion that we mortals got that God had a special purpose for her here on Earth. Back in 2008, before God chose Ms. Prejean to lose the Miss USA and get fired from the Miss California pagaent to defend the sanctity of marriage and defeat the scourge of anti-opposite marriage, he asked her to model a complete line of superhero-inspired stripper costumes!

Whack-A-Wingnut!

Check out this swell video game called Whack-A-Wingnut that I have been working on with my good friend Derk the Jerk over at Man-Eating Cheeseburger. (It's just like Whack-A-Mole, except the targets are a lot more obtuse and hard-headed.)

My Tribute to Senator Max Baucus

No time for blogging today! I am taking a brief respite from my immense caseload of human lobotomies in order to catch up on the latest medical journals. [ 1, 2, 3 ] (As much as I enjoy the saucy fold-out centerfold sections, I mostly read these fine periodicals for the interesting and provocative articles. Really.) In the meantime you can watch this swell video that I made as a tribute to Senator Max Baucus. (Hey you, get back in your jar! Jeepers, brains sure are slippery...)

My Favorite Tea Party Sign

Of all of the hilarious signs that were carried by Glenn Beck's Tea Party Enthusiasts on 9/12 [ 1, 2, 3, 4 ], this is my favorite. The sign is telling Speaker Pelosi that the author is proud to be a willing shill for corporate interests, and through the magical powers of cognitive dissonance the sign maker is able to rationalize his desire to please his party and the FOX News pundits that are an important part of his television lifestyle over his and his family's own self interests. Go, Tea Party, go!

We Can't Allow a Pro-Family Values Eye-Patch Underpants Gap!

Michael Duvall, A Republican state lawmaker from Yorba Linda has leaked the latest in GOP technology - apparently he and his lobbyist friend, Heidi De Jong Barsuglia, have developed a new form of politically persuasive undergarments... eye-patch underpants! You can read all about it at this KCAL9 link, "Exclusive Taped Sex Comments Cost Calif. Lawmaker His Job".

Zaius Nation reporters have learned that Assemblyman Duvall's pro-family values secret lies within lobbyist Heidi De Jong Barsuglia's underpants! We have it on good authority that Assemblyman Duvall told his Republican colleague, Assemblyman Jeff Miller that, "She wears little eye-patch underwear." [ 1, 2, 3 ]

According to the Capitol Resource Institute, Assemblyman Duvall and lobbyist De Jong Barsuglia (I think that her stage name is "Spank Me Heidi") have been able to use these mysterious eye-patch underpants to gain a 100 percent rating from the conservative advocacy group for his pro-family legislation during the 2007-8 legislative session.

This is no time to shirk our underpants responsibilities! In an attempt to level the "pro-family values underwear" playing field, I have been hard at work at Zaius Nation Laboratories© trying to learn the secret of these pro-family values eye-patch underpants. (We can't allow a pro-family values eye-patch underpants gap!)

UPDATE: Matty Boy has a post about Michael Duvall as well!

Obama Is Just Another "Grup"

Obama's coolness factor has just dropped on Miri's homeworld! Miri [ 1, 2 ] and the rest of the "Onlies" have decided that Obama's speech was just another adult "foolie", and it proves that Obama is just like the rest of the "grups".

Blood and Honor: Obama's Hitler Youth

I am amazed at the speed at which the recent pivot by the Republican Party's message went from "Obama Death Panel Healthcare" to "Obama Addressing School kids = Hitler Youth Indoctrination".

The sheer number of these "Obama = Hitler" sort of videos is really quite remarkable... I found this one is particularly disturbing.

crooksandliars.com: Obama Speaking to Schoolchildren Is Really 'Recruiting for Hitler Youth.'
wnd.com: Parents rebel against Obama TV speech to schools
washingtonpost.com: Arlington Pulls Up a Desk For President, Entourage
digitaljournal.com: Opinion: President Obama's troubling lesson plan for America's youth
blogs.ajc.com: Even an Obama speech to children sets off partisan outrage
csmonitor.com: Conservatives wave red flags over Obama school speech
dailyherald.com: Obama back-to-school address a matter of debate for local districts
onenewsnow.com: Obama's school speech - social indoctrination?
statesman.com: Schools weigh whether to air Obama
bradenton.com: District may respond to Obama speech
examiner.com: Right wing parents say Obama speaking to students to recruit his 'Hitler youth'
examiner.com: Obama speaks to kids, right wing panics
examiner.com: The President to address school children as "Educator in Chief"

If you watch these videos of the original Hitler youth, You can make the comparison of whether President Obama's education policies have made America look like those in Nazi Germany. (Hitler's kids look a lot blonder, skinnier and better armed if you ask me.)

Call me old fashioned, but as much as I like to see Glenn Beck explain Americorps in lederhosen [ 2 ], I still fondly remember the day that his crazed "Hitler Youth" comparison were directed at Al Gore and Bill Clinton.

George Bush, who promised to be the "education president", never made the mistake during his adminstration of adressing children on television... [ 2 ] Oh, wait... except for those seven minutes...

Tucker Carlson is Still Officially Not Gay!

Tucker Carlson is muy macho!

After Tucker Carlson's MSNBC show 'Tucker' got the axe rumors were flying about the final dispositon of the intrepid and still officially not gay news pundit, but have no fear boys and girls! Despite what they have been saying about him, Tucker Carlson is still officially not gay!

According to a recent FOX News video clip that I found on Crooks & Liars, Tucker is going to do an important news show about defending violence based on sexual orientation, and the horrors of teaching about gay penguin sex in school!

The clip is of FOX News' morning talk show host Steve Doocey and Tucker having a very heterosexual and manly on-air chat about Tucker's new role at FOX. Tucker is very concerned about your kids, and wants to make sure that his macho manly not gayness is able to rub off on them!

I am glad that Steve Doocey and FOX News will be putting some wind in the sails of Tucker's flagging career, which has sadly been rather limp and lifeless these last few months.

For those of you that may have missed the previous news story about how Tucker Carlson first defended and defined his official not gayness (and why this new story is so freakin' hilarious), this is a reprint of what was previously reported back in September, 2007:

During a discussion of Sen. Larry Craig's not-gayness, Political news pundit Tucker Carlson proclaimed his own not-gayness by stating that he had once been solicited is in a men's restroom. He then went and got one of his not-gay friends and two of them went back to the men's room to defend his not-gay honor. Let it be known that Tucker Carlson is very serious about his not-gayness. He wants the public to know that he is very extra-macho. He is so very extra-macho that when he is unable to beat up a homosexual on his own, he will get one of his not-gay friends to beat up the nasty gay person for him. Bask in Tucker Carlson's not-gayness on YouTube!

Here is the story from Media Matters:

Tuesday evening, during an on-air discussion about Sen. Larry Craig's arrest, MSNBC host Tucker Carlson recounted a mid-1980s incident in which, according to Carlson, he and a friend slammed a man's head against a bathroom stall because the man had "bothered" Carlson.

While Carlson described hitting the man's head "against the stall," he broke into a broad smile, barely stifling a laugh. At least one of his MSNBC colleagues who were on the air at the same time -- Dan Abrams and Joe Scarborough -- laughed out loud. (Neither man was visible on-screen at that precise moment, but the uproarious laughter that greeted Carlson's comments indicate that at least one of them found it hilarious. Watch the video for yourself.)

Carlson's boast that he and a friend physically assaulted a man who he said "bothered" him quickly drew criticism, and Carlson changed his story the next day. In an email statement Media Matters for America received from an MSNBC spokesperson, Carlson said... Read the rest at Media Matters

The first Media Matters story about the segment has a transcript of the show.
